Flowers of the Field

Elisabeth's favorite lullaby lately has been a Chinese song called, "Flowers of the Field." It was written based on Matthew 6:25-34, which has been a great reminder for us that we are not to worry about the future, not for James, not for Elisabeth and Abigail, and not for us.

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

James had an evaluation with Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) on Monday, and he only qualified for OT once a month. The reason he qualified for so little therapy is that he is doing so well! He kicks his feet, he turns his head to both sides when he is on his back, he brings his hands to his mouth, he makes eye contact when we talk to him, and he is beginning to track objects visually, which are all things a 0-2 month old should do. Praise God for this great progress!

James has an appointment with a specialist at Texas Children's Hospital tomorrow afternoon. We are praying that it will go smoothly and we will have some direction about further treatment. Thank you so much for your faithful prayers. We love you all dearly.

I have been praying that even still God will intervene and develop James as he should--but I am also so overwhelmed by your complete trust in God's plan that I am reminded no matter what, God does have a plan!

we have been praying for him almost daily. if i don't mentioned him first in our prayer, keeghan will remind me. we will continue to pray for you all. i recently saw a testimony by a young man, nick, and he shared the verse from proverbs where each one of us is fearfully and wonderfully made. he also shared that because of his parents and their faith in God, he became the person he is today. that reminded me of you.
